The paper examines a small group of animal-shaped “amulets” that are strongly unitary and apparently attested from the Early Bronze I to the Early Bronze IVB with a marked concentration of evidence from northern Syria. Probably sewn onto textiles, they might have been represented domestic animals. Their chronology and relation to the complex social composition of the region is also discussed in the paper.
