Analysis of induced stress on materials exposed to laser-plasma radiation during high-intense laser experiments
in this work,weinvestigatethedamageproducedinmaterialswhenexposedtoalaser-generatedplasma.Theplasmawasgeneratedbyinteractionofahigh-intensitylaserwithOxygen.WedemonstratethatthestressinducedonthetargetsurfaceofaTantalumtarget(typicalmaterialsusedasPlasmaFacingMaterial)after10hofplasmaexposureisequivalenttothestressinducedduring1hofconventionallaserablationusingapulsed0.5Jlaser.Inbothcasesweobtainasurfaceerosioninthetensofm,andachangeinthesurfaceroughnessinthetensofnmforthestressedmaterials.Theerosionrateof1nm/s,explainedintermsofsurfacefragmentationatthermodynamicequilibrium,generatesaslowdamagetothematerialsexposedtotheplasma.Ourmethodallowsindicatingsafetyparametersforthemaintenanceofmaterialsusedinhigh-intensitylaserexperiments
