Eighty-six patients undergoing CC for breast cancer were enrolled in a period of 6 months in our Breast Unit. Stitchs and metal clips were applied to the specimen to identify the resection margins and spatial orientation. The RsI was performed in the operating room with the Kubtec machine.
Results
Our study shows that RsI was useful in identifying the lesion in 90% of cases. We have shown a correlation in the histological and radiological measurement of tumor size and distance from margins. The other conclusion was the usefulness of the RsI in terms of R1: in 6 cases the RsI allowed to make an enlargement on the specimen.
Conclusion
The problem of free margin remains a crucial problem in CC. We shows a correlation between the histologically evaluated margins and those on the mammograph. It has been shown how the association of RsI with cavity shaving leads to a decrease in reoperations.
