Fabio Attorre, PhD in Botany, is Full Professor of Environmental and Applied Botany at the Department of Environmental Biology of Sapienza University of Rome. His main topics are the conservation of the biodiversity and the sustainable development in developing countries. Areas of intervention include Mozambique, Eswatini, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Papua New Guinea, Albania, Montenegro, Yemen, Ecuador, Peru, Dominican Republic. Projects have been implemented in collaboration with international organizations such as FAO, UNEDP, UNEP, IFAD, IUCN and Bioversity International.
He is also the Director of the Botanical Garden of Rome and participated in several management and planning projects focused on urban green open spaces and protected areas.
He is the coordinator of an international summer school to promoting agro-biodiversity with a focus on urban greening and urban farming.
He authored more than 180 peer-reviewed, ISI-indexed publications and several books on various aspects of environmental conservation facing human mediated impacts such as climate change and land degradation processes.
He is the Editori-in-Chief of Annali di Botanica (IF 1), the scientic journal of the Department of Enviroemnetal Biology
