Interessi di ricerca

Principali linee di ricerca sono:

- Studio dei meccanismi di difesa dell’ospite nelle infezioni genitali da Chlamydia trachomatis.

- Caratterizzazione dell’infezione da C. trachomatis nelle cellule testicolari del Sertoli e potenziali implicazioni nell’infertilità maschile

- Caratterizzazione molecolare e cellulare delle forme persistenti di Chlamydia trachomatis  e Chlamydia pneumoniae.

- Caratterizzazione dei meccanismi etiopatogenetici di Chlamydia pneumoniae nello sviluppo e progressione dell’aterosclerosi con l’individuazione di sostanze antiossidanti naturali efficaci nel prevenire la formazione della placca aterosclerotica.

- Individuazione di nuove molecole ad attività antimicrobica
