Thyomics

Progetto PRIN PNRR 2022 della durata di 24 mesi.

Thyroid carcinoma (TC) is the most common endocrine malignancy, affecting 0.2-1.5% of individuals worldwide. Fine-needle
aspiration cytology (FNAC) represents the gold standard for the diagnosis of nodular thyroid disease. Recent progress due to the use of molecular and multiomics technologies has allowed the detection of alterations of the genome (genomics), metabolite concentration (metabolomics) and of protein characterization (proteomics) in several types of cancer, improving the understanding of molecular modifications associated with tumoral initiation and progression. In our project (THYOMICS) we intend to analyze and compare plasma, salivary and surgical specimens of patients with indeterminate thyroid nodules through a multiomic approach.
