Sustainable chemical methods for the recycling of critical metals involved in the energy transition

Energy storage and production technologies underpinning the energy transition rely on metals that are classified as critical due to their limited availability. The research interest of dr. Schiavi focuses on the study of innovative methods (deep eutectic solvents, electrochemical methods) for recycling metals contained in end-of-life lithium-ion batteries, the investigation of extraction mechanisms, and the synthesis and characterization of new inorganic materials for energy storage starting from the recovered metals.
