After a survey over different conceptions of grammar is given, the role of grammar in foreign language teaching will be discussed. Subsequently, the main inflectional categories of German are outlined as far as formal, semantic, and pragmatic aspects are concerned, both for declension and conjunction
Es werden zehn Desiderata für eine explizite Grammatikvermittlung formuliert, so dass der (universitäre) DaF-Unterricht an Adäquatheit, Effizienz und Lernerzentriertheit gewinnt und somit für die Lernenden attraktiver wird. Die Erklärungen sollten den kommunikativen Bedürfnissen der Lernenden entgegenkommen und systematisch semantische, pragmatische und textuelle Aspekte einbeziehen.
The so-called secondary prepositions mostly do not look like typical prepositions, having the form of an adverb, adjective, verb, noun or prepositional phrase. Secondary prepositions generally display a synchronic alternation between genitive and dative government. A great number of prepositions require the genitive but can also be constructed with the dative, mainly in oral and informal language. On the other hand, a small group of prepositions should govern only dative, but in everyday language genitive is not unusual.
Ist Grammatik im modernen DaF-Unterricht wirklich überflüssig oder bestenfalls ein notwendiges Übel? Die AutorInnen der 16 Beiträge dieses Bandes glauben nach wie vor an die didaktische Zentralität der Grammatik, allerdings nicht als rein formbezogenes System, sondern als semantisch-pragmatisches Mittel zur inhaltlichen Differenzierung und Verfolgung bestimmter kommunikativer Ziele. Nach einem einleitenden Beitrag enthält der Band 15 Fallstudien, die sich mit für DaF-Lernende relevanten Sprachphänomenen befassen.
