Unexpected Complication of a Nitinol-Constrained Balloon Angioplasty (Chocolate) in Rutherford Class 3 Patient Presenting Challenging Aorto-Iliac Anatomy

We report an unusual complication of Chocolate nitinol-constraining structure after right superficial femoral artery (SFA) angioplasty. The procedure was performed by vascular surgeons in an operating theater equipped by a portable fluoroscopy unit. Under local anesthesia, by a contralateral approach, a 7F introducer sheath was advanced through the proximal portion of the right common iliac artery. Owing to the severe aorto-iliac vessels calcification, it was not possible to place the introducer sheath into a more distal vessel, as planned.

Twelve-month results of the Italian registry on protected CAS with the mesh-covered CGuard stent. The IRON-Guard study

Data on perioperative outcomes of new mesh-covered carotid
stents have been presented, showing encouraging results1,2. Major
complication rates in CGuard carotid artery stenting (CAS) procedures
range from 0 to 2.5% at 30 days1,2. These data underline
the feasibility and safety of the CGuard™ stent (InspireMD, Tel
Aviv, Israel) in preventing off-table events in the so-called plaque
healing period, that is to say after the intraoperative embolism risk
has been overcome. The IRON-Guard registry2 has continued to

Standard "off-the-shelf" multibranched thoracoabdominal endograft in urgent and elective patients with single and staged procedures in a multicenter experience

Objective: The objective of this study was to assess immediate and midterm outcomes for urgent/emergent and elective patients with thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms (TAAAs) treated with the first commercially available “off-the-shelf” multibranched endograft for endovascular aneurysm repair, with a single-step or a staged surgical approach.

Comparison of aortoiliac repair with iliac branch endoprosthesis versus hypogastric occlusion in aortoiliac aneurysms

BACKGROUND: The CARIBE Study aims to assess the outcome of endovascular repair (EVAR) with iliac branch endoprosthesis (IBE) in patients with aorto-iliac aneurysms extending to iliac bifurcation, comparing these results with those of EVAR with hypogastric occlusion pres¬ ent in the recent published literature. METHODS: Patients with aorto-iliac aneurysms anatomically suitable for EVAR with IBE, are included in the study. RESULTS: Primary safety outcome measure are total and aneurysm related death free survival.

Infection of prosthetic patches after femoral endarterectomy. An unreported complication

Background: The femoral prosthetic patch is a surgical procedure frequently used to treat atherosclerotic lesions involving femoral artery bifurcation. Even though it is an easy to perform procedure, surgical management of complications, first of all graft infection, may be challenging, with a high morbidity and mortality risk for patients. We report our experience on surgical treatment of femoral patch infections.
