Migraine in childhood: an organic, biobehavioral, or psychosomatic disorder?

From attachment to parents to somatic symptoms in children: exploring the mediation role of anxiety, attachment to peers and depressive symptoms

Despite the fact that somatic symptoms are related to the quality of attachment, few studies have been conducted to explore the variables that mediate this relationship in childhood. The present study investigates the role of anxiety, attachment to peers, and depressive symptoms as mediators of the relationship between attachment to parents and somatic symptoms. 340 children (49.1% males) between the ages of 8-11 (Mean age=9.25, SD=0.89) participated in this study.

Comorbidity of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder in children and adolescents

The aim of the study is to explore the impact of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) comorbidity in children

How does a bicycle work? A new instrument to assess mechanical reasoning in school aged children

It shows correlations with spatial reasoning and motor control, and with visual reasoning

The Codevelopment of Sympathy and Overt Aggression From Middle Childhood to Early Adolescence

We assessed the extent to which feelings of sympathy and aggressive behaviors codeveloped from 6 to 12 years of age in a representative sample of Swiss children (N = 1,273). Caregivers and teachers reported children's sympathy and overt aggression in 3-year intervals. Second-order latent curve models indicated general mean-level declines in sympathy and overt aggression over time, although the decline in sympathy was relatively small. Importantly, both trajectories were characterized by significant interindividual variability.

The Severe Paediatric Asthma Collaborative in Europe (SPACE) ERS clinical research collaboration: enhancing participation of children with asthma in therapeutic trials of new biologics and receptor blockers

Asthma is one of the most common chronic diseases of childhood. Fortunately, most children with asthma have a mild or moderate form of the disease [1], and symptom control can be achieved by ensuring adequate provision of care and continuously addressing the basics in asthma management through shared decision-making with patients and their families. However, asthma remains difficult to treat for a small proportion of children who may be symptomatic despite aggressive maintenance therapy and after management issues like adherence to treatment have been addressed [2, 3].
