Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy: A Strategy for the Treatment of Refractory Ascites in Recurrent Endometrial Cancer Patients - Three Case Reports and Review of the Literature

Endometrial cancer currently represents the most frequent gynecologic malignancy in Western countries, and the seventh most common cancer in women. For advanced-stage disease, the recurrence risk is high, and the site of the relapse is heterogeneous with localized or spread peritoneal disease. There are few therapeutic strategies, and the quality of life is poor.

Immunotherapy in endometrial cancer: new scenarios on the horizon

This extensive review summarizes clinical evidence on immunotherapy and targeted therapy currently available for endometrial cancer (EC) and reports the results of the clinical trials and ongoing studies. The research was carried out collecting preclinical and clinical findings using keywords such as immune environment, tumor infiltrating lymphocytes, programmed death-1 (PD-1)/programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression, immune checkpoint inhibitors, anti-PD-1/PD-L1 antibodies and others’ on PubMed. Finally, we looked for the ongoing immunotherapy trials on ClinicalTrials.gov.

Besides palliative chemotherapy, no consensus is present in literature about the specific treatment of skin metastases, in particular in order to improve symptoms. Objectives: In this paper the authors present a case of multi-metastatic endometrial cancer patient with also cutaneous metastasis, treated with palliative systemic therapy and electrochemotherapy.
