Measuring the contribution of higher education to innovation capacity in the EU

The general goals of the study include the provision of evidence on the key factors determining the contribution of higher education institutions (HEIs) to innovation capabilities and expand the understanding of this contribution beyond traditional measures of the role of HEI on innovation capabilities. In this context, the general objective of the study could be verbalised as “to develop a more comprehensive model of the contribution of higher education to innovation capacity”.

Knowledge management, intellectual capital and entrepreneurship: a structured literature review

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyze within the knowledge management (KM) stream the relationship between KM and intellectual capital (IC) and entrepreneurship (E). IC is a pivotal intangible resource to firms to generate knowledge. Knowledge and information are strategic for today’s company life. IC is generated and dynamically recombined by knowledge, produces knowledge and is feed by knowledge itself, both codified and tacit.

Female entrepreneurship in perspective: a methodological issue

A methodological approach to the concept of female entrepreneurship concept has not yet been treated: is female entrepreneurship an individual or collective concept? Is it considered a social or natural variable? The purpose of this research is to clear up these alternatives, which are preparatory questions for any research into female entrepreneurship that wishes to measure its features and effects. The article starts with the proposal of an identification procedure, necessary to identifying the variables of female entrepreneurship.

Purpose From the analysis of recent literature it emerges a methodological issue about Female entrepreneurship concept which has not been treated. It is not yet clear if Female entrepreneurship is an individual or collective concept and if it is considered a social or natural variable. The purpose of present research is to clear up that these alternatives are preparatory to any research about Female entrepreneurship which would measure its features and effects over other economic variables.

Analysing the diffusion of the ideas and knowledge on economic open problems on female entrepreneur in US over time: the case of Wikipedia (Year 2015–2017)

An important problem on the entrepreneurship field is the precise comprehension of the diffusion dynamics of the ideas and knowledge. In fact ideas can have an important impact on the business and on the managerial decisions. So in this sense the analysis of the evolution of the ideas need to be carefully considered and evaluated. In this work we will propose a time-series cluster analysis of pageviews data of selected topics on Gender in Wikipedia. Results give relevant insights on the evolution of relevant topics as the gender pay and role at work over time.

Female start-ups in Italy: a relational capital perspective

Relational capital is a vital asset of the contemporary economy, and it refers to the sum of relations among organizations and their stakeholders to create value. Previous literature states that relational capital appears as a strategic asset, especially for start-ups run by women entrepreneurs. We aim to deepen the dynamics of relational capital in female entrepreneurship, especially start-ups, analyzing the Italian context during the years 2011–2012, known as the time of the financial crisis.

Entrepreneurial, renewal capitals and financial performance

In most studies IC (Intellectual Capital) has been seen to consist of three elements: human capital, structural capital and relational capital. However, emerging studies suggest that that three other elements could also be included in IC visualizing and mapping: renewal capital (RC), trust capital (TC), and entrepreneurial capital (EC). The purpose of this paper is to show preliminary results from the Italian research unit of an international project on IC and value creation. We focused on EC and RC, in order to verify if they affect firm performances.

Development perspectives of relational capital in women-led firms

The purpose of the paper is to analyze the strategic role of relational capital for the achievement of sustainable development in Italian micro and small tourist businesses run by women. The paper focuses on the tourism enterprises because that sector constitute 10 % of the Italian GDP. The qualitative research methodology that has been used is that of case study research (Yin, 2009).
