Flexibility - Enabling technologies using electric vehicles

Electric car usage has been growing rapidly over the past ten years, cars stock in 2018 exceeded 5 millions, +63% from 2019, Europe is accounting for 24% of the global fleet. The request of fast, rapid and ultra rapid charge is, on the other side, posing electric power network challenges. In this scenario the DSO is interested in exploiting EV charges in terms of flexibility that can be planned in optimized way, especially when it is combined with high penetration of RES.

A new device to test the bending resistance of mechanical endodontic instruments

The aims of the present study were to propose a new machine for testing the bending behavior of an instrument at multiple specific points along the cutting surface and to compare the influence of proprietary heat treatment on the bending ability of EdgeTaper (ET), Protaper Universal (PTU), EdgeTaper Platinum (ETP), and Protaper Gold (PTG). A total of 320 instruments were examined in the present study: 80 ET, 80 PTU, 80 ETP, and 80 PTG.

Insomnia Symptoms Moderate the Relationship Between Perseverative Cognition and Backward Inhibition in the Task-Switching Paradigm

Perseverative cognition (PC), that is, the continuous cognitive representation of uncontrollable threats, is known to dampen executive control processes in experimental paradigms. Similarly, PC has been shown to impair sleep and to be implicated in the exacerbation of insomnia, which may in turn contribute to the disruption of executive functions. The interactions between PC and insomnia in influencing executive functions, however, have never been tested to date.

Executive functions in insomnia disorder: a systematic review and exploratory meta-analysis

Background: Executive functions (EFs) are involved in the control of basic psychological processes such as attention and memory and also contribute to emotion regulation. Research on the presence of EFs impairments in insomnia yielded inconsistent results. Therefore, we performed a systematic review of the literature on three EFs: inhibitory control, working memory, and cognitive flexibility in adults with insomnia in order to investigate the presence and magnitude of insomnia-related EFs impairments.

Smart Grid and Microgrid Cooperation in a Real Distribution Network under Emergency Conditions

The paper presents a feasibility study regarding the ability of an existing rural microgrid to supply an islanded portion of the MV distribution network. The microgrid is currently off-grid, but in the near future will be connected to the MV distribution grid. Based on load and generation measurements in a six-month period, a statistical analysis is carried out with the aim to check the ability of the microgrid to guarantee such a service whenever requested.

Early‑career complexity before and after labour‑market deregulation in Italy. Heterogeneity by gender and socio‑economic status across cohorts

Labour-market deregulation may have generated more unstable and complex employment life courses. As exposure to highly volatile early-career trajectories has long-lasting consequences for the working lives of individuals, it is especially important to consider how these processes have affected younger workers in countries like Italy. Here, deregulation ‘at the margins’ of the labour market has been

Homage: What Patrizio Di Nicola Has Left Behind

From its very inception Patrizio Di Nicola was one of the key figures of the European Network on Regional Labor Market Monitoring (EN RLMM). He passed away too early. He has left a void that cannot be filled. In these brief notes, I will try to outline the research paths on which he ventured and, at the same time, to understand how to gather and continue the very considerable contributions he left.
