Rischi geologici

Rischi geologici

Predicted and observed settlements induced by the mechanized tunnel excavation of metro line C near S. Giovanni station in Rome

This paper deals with the effects induced by the mechanized excavation of Rome metro line C in the area of an old masonry building, the Carducci school. Class A settlements predictions are obtained performing full 3D soil-tunnel-structure interaction numerical analyses, using a simple elastic perfectly plastic soil constitutive model.

Measurements of the Colosseum response to environmental actions

The Colosseum is the most famous monument of ancient Rome. Differential settlements of its foundations, standing partly on alluvial deposits and partly on stiff soil, and various earthquakes are the main causes of collapses that give the Colosseum its present shape. In order to preserve the monument a number of structural interventions were made during the 19th century. At present, the health status of the monument requires to be monitored against possible degradation phenomena.

Inter-fractional monitoring of 12 C ions treatments: results from a clinical trial at the CNAO facility

The high dose conformity and healthy tissue sparing achievable in Particle Therapy when using C ions calls for safety factors in treatment planning, to prevent the tumor under-dosage related to the possible occurrence of inter-fractional morphological changes during a treatment. This limitation could be overcome by a range monitor, still missing in clinical routine, capable of providing on-line feedback.

Environmental, social, and governance and company profitability: Are financial intermediaries different?

This paper investigates the association between environmental, social, and governance (ESG) disclosure and company profitability, as measured by return on assets (ROA). We first assess a method to indexing the ESG score of a large sample of U.S. listed companies based on MSCI ESG KLD STATS data from 2000 to 2016. The statistical model is run on 17,358 observations and studies the association of ROA and the three different dimensions of ESG score. Significant differences between industrial firms and financial intermediaries emerge.

Article 33 - National Implementation and Monitoring

Article 33 regulates the implementation and the national monitoring system of the Convention. In particular, Contracting States have the postive obligation to designate focal points for matters relating to the implementation of the Convention, to establish or to designate a coordination mechanism and finally, according to the para. 2 of the Article 33, to establish one or more national independent mechanism(s). Such national mechanism is engaged in a wide range of activities. In general, it is created in order to promote, to protect and monitor the implementation of the Treaty.

Should we be aware of autonomic nervous system control before performing head-down laparoscopy?

laparoscopic surgery accounts for millionsof surgical procedures per year, and it has become the most-used elective procedure among radical prostatectomy surgeries.2, 3 De- spite the fact that the overall mortality from laparoscopic surgery is low 4 and that cardiac and cerebral complications related to laparoscopic prostatectomy are rare,5 head-down positioning and pneumoperitoneum exert their effects on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. laparoscopic procedures generate hydrostatic and abdominal pressures,6 and in- volve the action of anesthetic drugs.

The electrophysiology of thyroid surgery: electrophysiologic and muscular responses with stimulation of the vagus nerve, recurrent laryngeal nerve, and external branch of the superior laryngeal nerve

Abstract
OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS:

Correlation of physiologically important electromyographic (EMG) waveforms with demonstrable muscle activation is important for the reliable interpretation of evoked waveforms during intraoperative neural monitoring (IONM) of the vagus nerve, recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN), and external branch of the superior laryngeal nerve (EBSLN) in thyroid surgery.
STUDY DESIGN:

Retrospective chart review.
METHODS:

Scintillating fiber devices for particle therapy applications

Particle Therapy (PT) is a radiation therapy technique in which solid tumors are treated with charged ions and exploits the achievable highly localized dose delivery, allowing to spare healthy tissues and organs at risk. The development of a range monitoring technique to be used on-line, during the treatment, capable to reach millimetric precision is considered one of the important steps towards an optimization of the PT efficacy and of the treatment quality.
