An overview on immigrant women’s entrepreneurship in the Italian context

The aim of this paper is to verify whether a successful development model of female immigrant entrepreneurship does exist in Italy. Our study will focus on the potentiality of social media strategies as opportunities for growth and development of new business ideas. The assumptions underpinning the theoretical framework are Hp1, implementing social media strategies is an opportunity for business development, and Hp2, the ability to create partnerships with companies within the same industry has an impact on the implementation of social media strategies.

Female entrepreneurship and management in the immigrants reception sector in Italy

The aim of this paper is to verify whether relational capital allows increasing the information inherent in the process of the network of female cooperative micro-enterprises. The focus on Italy is justified on the grounds that the phenomenon of immigration in Italy has become a central theme in the political and social debate. Based on the literature on the subject and on previous research results it is useful to ask the following research question: does the network affect the competitive advantage of female micro-enterprises operating in the field of immigrant reception in Italy?

Introducing the 1st Workshop on “Archaeology in Africa”

With the increasing number of conferences, congresses and workshops devoted to African archaeology, one wonders if there is room for another one. More so if with the explicit hope, or unconscious admission, that this workshop would have been the first of a (long) series. And finally, in Italy, where in the past other attempts to create a flexible but permanent structure did not last for long. This workshop comes after a long theoretical gestation, mainly due to the essential questioning – do we really need it? – and many perplexities.

Archaeology in Africa. Potentials and perspectives on laboratory & fieldwork research. Papers from the 1st workshop (Rome 6-7 December 2017).

Africa encompasses a multitude of environments and biomes that require specific scientific strategies – from desktop studies to field research to laboratory analysis – to tackle research questions that may range from the emergence of early humans to the ethnoarchaeological investigation. In several areas, turmoil, social instability and security constraints hamper or limit field activities and long-term funded programs.

The Botanical Record of Archaeobotany Italian Network - BRAIN. A cooperative network, database and website

Examples of recent research including pollen or other plant remains in analytical andsynthetic papers are reported as an exemplar reference list. This paper retraces the mainsteps of the creation of BRAIN, from the scientific need for the first research cooperationto the website which has a free online access since 2015.

Research biobanks. A two-faced future

The possibility of preserving human tissue separated from the body, from which to extract clinical information, even on large numbers of individuals with similar clinical conditions, represents a great opportunity for the progress of biomedicine. The collection of biological materials in compliance with ethical and legal standards could be seen as the main innovation of research biobanks. Firstly, collections of samples are virtually unusable today because of the lack of detail in the informed consent or because they were catalogued following inappropriate methods.
