Unplanned rail service disruptions. Recovery Index for the station analysis where to set up a bus bridging // Interruzioni accidentali del servizio ferroviario.

Intelligent wheelsets for the trains of the future.

Summary-The European rail sector has a strong interest in innovations for monitoring the operational condition of a running vehicle. Many high technology systems can lead up to future rail systems relying on “intelligent vehicles”. This document describes the conceptual development of a monitoring system based on FEM calculations. The system uses signals from wheel-fitted transducers.

A Review on Energy Efficiency in Three Transportation Sectors: Railways, Electrical Vehicles and Marine

The present paper is a review on efficiency issues related to three important sectors of the transportation systems: railways, electrical vehicles, and marine. For the three sectors, the authors, in reference of their knowledge and research area, show the results of a wide literature analysis, in order to highlight which are the measures, in terms of technological solutions and management techniques, which are recently investigated and implemented, for improving the three transportation systems, from the point of view of efficiency.

Level crossings ranking by integrated risk analysis for typical hazards

The paper starts from the introduction of the safety management systems, as tools for the continuous improvement of rail safety performances and for the processes to identify the most effective measures to prevent accidents. The focus is on the level crossings, largely representing the most dangerous elements of the railway networks. The scope is the setup of an effective methodology for ranking the level crossings in view of the prioritization of actions to reduce the risks on intersections between rail and road.
