Proceedings 5th International Conference on Sustainable Development

In the last few years the phenomenon of the Sharing Economy rapidly gained momentum. The reasons for this success are multiple but the most important is the tendency to faster exchanges and economic relationships both on the real and the financial market. This awareness made it essential to start the study form the crisis of the hyper-capitalism and of the concept of ownership which is being replaced with that of a more fluid sharing.

A model to support the public administration decisions for the investments selection on historic buildings

The historical buildings can become an instrument for the growth of a territory in connection with the historic and artistic value, the ability to characterize environments and urban, rural and natural landscapes and on the basis of historical and documentary interest. This is confirmed in the numerous legislative measures that deal with urban planning at the international level. Most of the time, however, the interventions on the historical–architectural building heritage do not respond to logic capable of simultaneously ensuring the conservation and valorization.

A relational capital perspective on social sustainability. The case of female entrepreneurship in Italy

Purpose: Female entrepreneurship has been part of the political agenda internationally. The engagement of stakeholders in non-financial reporting. New information‐pressure, stimuli, inertia, under short‐termism in the banking industry

In the past few years non-financial reporting has been a widely debated issue in literature, not least because of its importance during times in which topics such as climate change and social transformations have become strategic issues, particularly for larger companies. Recent regulatory changes within the European legal framework have marked the transition from a voluntary non-financial reporting system to a mandatory one for larger companies.

Sustainable Tourism: Best Practice in Water Management

The importance of water derives from its being
an indispensable but limited resource. We are not able to produce more than Earth offers, nor can we exploit water
resources outside the planet. Nevertheless, water remains a fundamental asset whose demand is expected to grow
considerably in the coming years: It is estimated that, by 2050, almost half of the world’s population will be
exposed to potential conditions of water stress. The aim of this work is to analyse the role of tourism in the

Sustainable development must account for pandemic risk

The United Nations (UN) launched the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to address an ongoing crisis: human pressure leading to unprecedented environmental degradation, climatic change, social inequality, and other negative planet-wide consequences. This crisis stems from a dramatic increase in human appropriation of natural resources to keep pace with rapid population growth, dietary shifts toward higher consumption of animal products, and higher demand for energy (1, 2).

An Economic Analysis Algorithm for Urban Forestry Projects

The second half of the 20th century was characterized by rapid growth of the urban population and lack of attention to environmental quality in the urbanizes territories. Thus, the development of many cities during that period took place through policies which, over time, resulted in a disaggregated landscape, both in morphological and functional terms. In some cases, these policies have caused the creation of land portions without a specific characterization, and the generation of urban voids that negatively affect the city’s development.
