Are role and gender related to sexual function and satisfaction in men and women practicing BDSM?

Background: Published studies show good psychological health of people involved in bondage-discipline, dominance-submission, and sadism-masochism (BDSM) activities; nevertheless, there are few studies on characteristics related to gender, role in the BDSM scene, sexual functioning, and satisfaction among BDSM practitioners. Aim: The aim of this study was to explore gender and role differences, prevalence of sexual complaints, related distress, and sexual satisfaction in BDSM participants compared with the general population.

Optimization of window settings for standard and advanced virtual monoenergetic imaging in abdominal dual-energy CT angiography

Objectives: To determine the optimal window setting for displaying virtual monoenergetic reconstructions of third generation dual-source, dual-energy CT (DECT) angiography of the abdomen. Methods: Forty-five patients were evaluated with DECT angiography (90/150 kV, 180/90 ref. mAs). Three datasets were reconstructed: standard linear blending (M_0.6), 70 keV traditional virtual monoenergetic (M70), and 40 keV advanced noise-optimized virtual monoenergetic (M40+).

MDCT of the liver in obese patients. evaluation of a different method to optimize iodine dose

Purpose: To prospectively compare two different approaches for estimating the amount of intravenous contrast media (CM) needed for multiphasic MDCT of the liver in obese patients. Materials and methods: This single-center, HIPAA-compliant prospective study was approved by our Institutional Review Board. Ninety-six patients (55 men, 41 women), with a total of 42 hypovascular liver lesions, underwent MDCT of the liver.

Entry techniques in laparoscopic radical and partial nephrectomy: A multicenter international survey of contemporary practices

BACKGROUND: There is no clear consensus as to the optimal method of entry in laparoscopic renal surgery and no reports have compared them in Urology. To analyze contemporary practice patterns in entry technique and port placement for laparoscopic kidney surgery. METHODS: We identified 60 high volume urological laparoscopic centers. A purpose-built questionnaire was sent to surgeons. The survey included 22 questions regarding access techniques and port configuration during laparoscopic kidney surgery. Data on were collected and retrospectively analyzed.

Penoscrotal versus minimally invasive infrapubic approach for inflatable penile prosthesis placement: a single-center matched-pair analysis

PURPOSE:
To compare perioperative results, safety and efficacy profile in patients receiving inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP) via penoscrotal (PS) or minimally invasive infrapubic (MII) approach for erectile dysfunction.

Purely off-clamp robotic partial nephrectomy: Preliminary 3-year oncological and functional outcomes

Objectives: To describe our surgical technique and to report perioperative, 3-year oncological and functional outcomes of a single-center series of purely off-clamp robotic partial nephrectomy. Methods: A prospective renal cancer institutional database was queried, and data of consecutive patients treated with purely off-clamp robotic partial nephrectomy between 2010 and 2015 in a high-volume center were collected. Perioperative complications, and 3-year oncological and functional outcomes were assessed.

Robot-assisted Partial Adrenalectomy for the Treatment of Conn's Syndrome: Surgical Technique, and Perioperative and Functional Outcomes

Background: In the era of minimally invasive surgery, partial adrenalectomy has certainly been underused. We aimed to report surgical technique and perioperative, pathologic, and early functional outcomes of a two-center robot-assisted partial adrenalectomy (RAPA) series. Objective: To detail surgical technique of RAPA for unilateral aldosterone-producing adenoma (UAPA), and to report perioperative and 1-yr functional outcomes.

“Ride the Green Light”: Indocyanine Green–marked Off-clamp Robotic Partial Nephrectomy for Totally Endophytic Renal Masses

Background: Complexity of robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) mostly depends on tumor size and location. Totally endophytic renal masses represent a surgical challenge in terms of both intraoperative identification and anatomical dissection. Objective: To detail a novel technique for marking preoperatively endophytic renal tumors with transarterial superselective intrarenal mass delivery of indocyanine green (ICG)-lipiodol mixture, in order to enhance surgical margins control during purely off-clamp (OC) RAPN with the use of near-infrared fluorescence imaging.

Best practices in near-infrared fluorescence imaging with indocyanine green (NIRF/ICG)-guided robotic urologic surgery: a systematic review-based expert consensus

Purpose: The aim of the present study is to investigate the impact of the near-infrared (NIRF) technology with indocyanine green (ICG) in robotic urologic surgery by performing a systematic literature review and to provide evidence-based expert recommendations on best practices in this field. Methods: All English language publications on NIRF/ICG-guided robotic urologic procedures were evaluated. We followed the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses) statement to evaluate PubMed®, Scopus® and Web of Science™ databases (up to April 2019).
