This essay, after having affirmed that international public order is a concept of domestic law, which is a limit to the application of a foreign law in the individual concrete case, proposes a definition of it. It is a general clause, as such relative and historical, which serves as a subsequent, negative, concrete limit, with an axiological and control function.
