'Vacanze romane': interpretations, languages and practices of tourism at Rome
From the interdisciplinary point of view as Contemporary History, Geography, Linguistic and Ethnomusicology, the project aims to highlight the tourism in Rome between the start of tourism mass until today.
From a historical point of view, the project aims to highlight the sectoral policies of the Ministry of Tourism (1959, now Ministry for Cultural Heritage, Environmental and Tourism), Lazio Region and Municipality of Rome to develop tourism in Rome, on the other side. Furthermore, it aims to reconstruct the image of Rome through the tourism advertising strategies of ENIT, the Provincial Tourism Authority of Rome, Municipality of Rome.
From geographic point of view, the project will analyze the tourism in the Esquilino district of Rome and it aims to find out if and how the immigrant component contributes to the tourism of the district.
From linguistic point of view, the project will focus the evolution of the representation of Rome for tourism purposes analyzing the lexicon of tourist guides, highlighting the relationship between tourism and linguistic phenomenology, investigating the aspect of the Roman gastronomic lexicon and the repertoire of words related to the gastronomy of the Roman area.
From ethnomusicology point of view, the project will identify the relationship between foreign musician in Rome, tourists, city's inhabitants, tourist places, Roman traditional songs and music.
