During the Republican period the magistrates cum imperio expressed their vota in many different occasions, but it is not clear if the civitas was automatically bounded by these or if in some opportunities it was required the scrutiny of the Senate. Some literary sources seem to provide new data that would help clarifying this issue and, also, defining the shape, the juridical nature, the object and the content of the vota expressed by magistrates cum imperio.
