Interessi di ricerca

Lorenzo Nigro è un archeologo con una vasta esperienza nel Vicino Oriente e nel Mediterraneo: è il Direttore della Missione archeologica a Mozia in Sicilia Occidentale e della Missione archeologica in Palestina & Giordania della Sapienza, che conduce scavi nei siti dell'antica Gerico e di Batrawy (città del III millennio a.C. scoperta in Giordania nel 2005). È anche il Direttore del Museo del Vicino Oriente, Egitto e Mediterraneo della Sapienza, museo dedicato all illustrazione e allo studio della civiltà mediterranea. I suoi studi sono concentrati sulle società pre-classiche nel Levante e nel Mediterraneo e spaziano dall architettura alla metallurgia, dalla ceramica all'arte, con un attenzione speciale rivolta all'archeologia contestuale, alla sincronizzazione culturale e alla concettualizzazione della civiltà mediterranea.
