Study of the microclimate for the preventive conservation of heritage collections; enhancement of the comprehension of the interactions between environmental conditions and material properties by means of dose-response and damage functions; hygrothermal modelling through whole-building dynamic simulation; evaluation of the possible climate change impact on heritage conservation; development of innovative procedures for the preservation of historic libraries based on microclimate investigation, climate-induced risk assessment and hygrothermal simulation.
