Interessi di ricerca
Current research:
Jewish history: a study of the ghetto system in the Ancient Italian States. It aims to reconfigure this phenomenon from a spatial, economic and political perspectives and beyond the traditional approach focused on the paradigm of the Catholic Counter-Reformation. As part of the PRIN and PNRR projects, the research will precede the publication of the "Digital and Dynamic Atlas of Jews and the Economy in Global Italy (AJEGI)." A second strand of research will examine the dynamics of social control within and outside Jewish society, with particular attention to the history of marriages and sexuality.
History of Mediterranean Enslavement: a study of the process of identifying slaves who arrived in Rome, based on a complete survey of their personal files. The goal is to reconstruct the lives of enslaved men and women before, during, and after their Roman experience, in close comparison with documents preserved in other states. The research aims at a comprehensive study of the systems enforced by different ancient Italian states to regulate religious diversity. The complete publication in open access of the lists of Roman slaves will be one of the results of this research project.
