Prof. Carmine Mancone is the manager of the Tumor Microenvironment Laboratory at Sapienza University of Rome. The laboratory works on understanding the molecular basis of the interaction between cancer cells and the tumor microenvironment in liver and biliary tract carcinomas. In particular, the studies focus on the identification of proteins responsible for the remodeling of the extracellular matrix, for the regulation of vascular and lymphatic angiogenesis and for the desmoplastic reaction to understand how the microenvironment influences growth, invasiveness, and metastasis of cancer cells and to identify new therapeutic targets.
The professor Mancone collaborates with the anti-mafia magazine “I Siciliani Giovani” writing articles on the Italian university system.
