Interessi di ricerca

L'attività di ricerca del Dr. Di Cristofano è prevalentemente dedicata allo studio dei meccanismi molecolari associati alla carcinogenesi ed alla progressione neoplastica ed all individuazione di eventuali bersagli terapeutici nei tumori solidi utilizzando metodiche di biologia molecolare per l analisi delle alterazioni del genoma e di espressione genica nelle cellule e nei campioni tissutali. Un altro filone rilevante di ricerca è quello delle indagini sulle interazioni ed il traffico nucleocitoplasmatico delle proteine mediante la loro localizzazione subcellulare e co-localizzazione con metodiche immunoistochimiche nelle cellule e nei tessuti. In tali ambiti, in dipendenza anche della propria attività clinica di anatomo-patologo, il Dr. Di Cristofano ha focalizzato il suo interesse nella patologia neoplastica del rene, della mammella, dei tessuti molli e della utilizzando in particolare metodiche quali la microdissezione laser (LCM), l ibridazione in situ fluorescente (FISH) e i microarray tissutali (TMA) per gli studi di patologia molecolare.
