Interessi di ricerca

Studio dei livelli di regolazione del processo apoptotico e/o autofagico, legati alla specificità delle interazioni proteine-lipidi all'interno dei rafts lipidici. L'alterazione dei meccanismi di controllo di queste interazioni potrebbe essere alla base di numerose neoplasie, patologie autoimmuni e patologie degenerative.

 

Studio del ruolo fisiologico della proteina prionica cellulare (PrPc) e della sua funzione all'interno dei rafts lipidici. Approfondimento delle conoscenze sulle modalità di trasmissione della PrPc durante i processi di neuroinvasione attraverso lo studio del ruolo della PrPc nel differenziamento neuronale di cellule staminali mesenchimali.

 

Studio del ruolo della neuroglobina (Ngb) in cellule di neuroblastoma. Gli studi sulla funzione anti-apoptotica della Ngb hanno contribuito in modo significativo ad aumentare le conoscenze sulla trasduzione del segnale neuroprotettivo mediato dalla Ngb attraverso i rafts lipidici. La comprensione delle basi molecolari e del meccanismo d'azione della neuroglobina è oggetto di nuove progettualità volte alla scoperta di nuove terapie per le malattie neurodegenerative

 

Studio dei livelli sierici di HMGB1 e sRAGE in pazienti post-chirurgia o affetti da Sindrome da Anticorpi Antifosfolipidi, con l'intento di traslarli alla pratica clinica come markers sierologici.
