Andrological endocrinology

Our institution has a long-standing tradition in andrological research, with the first academic position being established in Rome in 1981. We have contributed to writing pioneering meta-analyses and national and international guidelines on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) in male hypogonadism, infertility, and sexual dysfunction. In the past decade, we have focused on developing advanced imaging techniques for testicular disorders. We established the first International School of Ultrasound in Andrology for the European Academy of Andrology.

What About Fertility Staff Emotions? An Explorative Analysis of Healthcare Professionals’ Subjective Perspective

Infertility-related psychological research is traditionally oriented to analyze the wellbeing of couples undergoing Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART), than to study the job-related effects on the healthcare fertility staff. Ultrasonography reappraisal of tubal patency in assisted reproduction technology patients: Comparison between 2D and 3D-sonohysterosalpingography. A pilot study

BacKGroUND: The aim of this study was to compare 2D and 3D-sonohysterosalpingography (2D-3D-HyFoSy) with previous diagnostic laparoscopy in the diagnosis of tubal patency, and compare each procedure in terms of procedure’s time, perceived pain and complication rate. MeTHoDS: We prospectively recruited infertile women, previously submitted to laparoscopy and randomly allocated into 2D-HyFoSy (group I) and 3D-HyFoSy (group II).

Male Oxidative Stress Infertility (MOSI): Proposed Terminology and Clinical Practice Guidelines for Management of Idiopathic Male Infertility

Despite advances in the field of male reproductive health, idiopathic male infertility, in which a man has altered semen characteristics without an identifiable cause and there is no female factor infertility, remains a challenging condition to diagnose and manage. Increasing evidence suggests that oxidative stress (OS) plays an independent role in the etiology of male infertility, with 30% to 80% of infertile men having elevated seminal reactive oxygen species levels.

Is “Unconsummated Marriage” still an appropriate term? A snapshot of reality

Assessment of Sexual and Emotional Distress in Infertile Couple: Validation of a New Specific Psychometric Tool

In this regard, some feelings and psychological states were demonstrated in association with reproductive problems. Depression and anxiety are the most common psychopathologies associated with infertility, although also sexuality is strongly involved in infertility conditions.
