This study aims to compare the literary work of Musine Kokalari with the way of speaking of Gjirokastër. The phonetic phenomena and the lexicon analyzed highlight the concordances and differences between the written language and oral tradition. The dialect and idiolect are conditioned by the Author’s intellectual stature.
