The present paper focuses on brick production in Republican Latium and on its epigraphical and prosopographic aspects. Particular attention is paid to the earliest brick stamps (III-II century BC) and to some relevant regional contexts, such as the ager Praenestinus and the territory of Signia. For this last one, the significant amount of documentation allows the start of the practice of stamping to be dated no later than the first decades of the 2nd century BC, with a continuous development through until the mid-Augustan period. It is also possible to note, in an activity that was certainly of economic importance to the city, the numerous gens of the citywho were involved, many of whom belonged to the local elite.
