Fostering Innovation and Sustainability in Dynamic Service Systems: a Conceptual Study for Ageing Population
Purpose of the paper: The ageing process of population in Albania has become extremely evident in the last 20 years, modifying the demographic context and representing one of the main challenges faced by the healthcare and social system of the country. The purpose of the research is identified sustainable and innovative solutions, aimed at enhancing the present situation and able to meet the necessities that haven’t been addressed so far, creating new actors and markets, and appreciating the effective value of the relevant parties.
Methodology: The research has been designed as an explorative work, based on the qualitative analysis of a single case study that will allow to deepen the knowledge on the matter and represent a starting point for future researches.
Findings: Through the idea of competent and sustainable innovation, the research highlight the necessity for a critical reformulation of the current promotion approach and the need of a radical reform of financing mechanism, managing the contribution paid by the employees according to their needs, interests and priorities, in order to create a beneficial context for social equilibrium.
Research limits: Being a qualitative research, this study cannot assume a general validity. Nevertheless, we might expect future researches on the Albanian healthcare and socio-economic system to be arising from, or to be influenced by, the intuitions that are going to be highlighted in this paper.
