Interessi di ricerca

Gli interessi di ricerca si inseriscono nell’ambito dell’Ecologia Evolutiva e, utilizzando diversi approcci che includono analisi fenotipiche, comportamentali e genetico-molecolari, sono rivolti allo studio dei processi ecologici ed evolutivi che interessano le popolazioni naturali. Tra le tematiche di ricerca affrontate vi sono: i) il processo di ibridazione in relazione al contesto ecologico in cui avviene e al suo effetto sulla diversità intra- ed inter-specifica; ii) lo studio di specie di ambienti acquatici effimeri e delle loro interazioni biotiche; iii) l’interazione tra individui e ambiente fisico, con particolare riferimento alla risposta degli organismi alla presenza di composti xenobiotici. I sistemi di studio sono costituiti da artropodi, anche d’interesse medico; parte delle ricerche ha dunque aspetti applicativi legati al controllo delle popolazioni di tali specie. In tale contesto, particolare attenzione è rivolta allo studio della resistenza agli insetticidi e allo sviluppo di strategie di controllo a basso impatto ambientale.
