Federica Vacatello is a tenure-track fixed-term researcher (RTT) in the academic recruitment field 10/ARCH-01, SSD ARCH-01/E, at the Faculty of Humanities, Department of Ancient Sciences, Sapienza University of Rome. Her research focuses on medieval and post-classical archaeology, with particular attention to landscape archaeology and architectural archaeology, as well as to the application of advanced digital technologies — 3D GIS, photogrammetry, remote sensing, diagnostics, and the development of robotic and UAV systems — to the documentation and analysis of archaeological contexts. She is the Principal Investigator of several research projects on remote sensing and robotics for archaeology. She has gained extensive experience in excavation and documentation at complex sites, including the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem and the medieval city of Leopoli-Cencelle. She also carries out intensive university teaching activities in Italy and abroad, including laboratory work and the supervision of master’s theses and doctoral projects.
