Clinician and researcher with a degree in Dentistry from Sapienza University of Rome, a clinical fellowship in Oral Oncology and Oral Medicine from Harvard School of Dental Medicine, training at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute and a certificate of advanced graduate studies in Oral Surgery from Sapienza/Umberto I University Hospital.
Paolo is currently serving as an attending clinician and Ph.D. candidate at Sapienza with research interests involving artificial intelligence applications in oral medicine and oncology and oral and maxillofacial surgery; his research and clinical activity also includes oral complications from cancer treatment, potentially malignant disorders and cancerous conditions of the oral cavity and head and neck district and oral chronic diseases.
While at Sapienza, Paolo earned different grants and was selected for the 2024 Robert and Kay Schattner Award from the American Academy of Oral Medicine (AAOM). Paolo is a member of the Italian Society of Oral Medicine and Pathology (SIPMO) and member and fellow of the American Academy of Oral Medicine (FAAOM).
Moreover he serves as ad-hoc reviewer for different peer-reviewed journals, including Oral Diseases (Wiley), Journal of Oral Pathology and Medicine (Wiley), BMC Infectious Diseases, BMC Oral Health and others.
While not seeing patients, Paolo is also an enthusiastic sportsman and enjoys to explore new places with his family and friends.
