The group studies medical applications of high frequency electromagnetic fields, e.g., microwave thermal ablation. Conducted studies include dosimetry of electromagnetic fields, microwave thermal ablation, hyperthermia, tissue dielectric properties characterization, as well as microwave imaging. As an example, studies are conducted to experimentally determine the dependence of dielectric and thermal properties on the temperature, and to develop numerical models representative of the electromagnetic field and temperature evolution in microwave thermal ablation procedures.
