Rethinking Science Journalism After the Covid-19 Pandemic

Over the years, the relationship between science and information has been characterised by several complexities (De Semir 2000; Bauer, Bucchi 2007). In particular, the debates has been focused on the use of sensationalistic tones and narratives by journalists, or even more on the accusation of complying more with journalistic values rather than scientific ones (Greco, Pitrelli 2009). Reply to “An Approach to Manage Epistaxis in the COVID-19 Pandemic in Resource-Constrained Settings”

There is a growing interest on the risk of health care pro- fessionals to be exposed to SARS-CoV-2 during their activ- ity. Recent studies have demonstrated that SARS-CoV-2 can be easily transmitted by symptomatic and asymptomatic carriers, contributing to viral diffusion and pandemic potential. Moreover, studies have reported that SARS-CoV-2 maintains its biologic stability in aerosol and on surfaces for hours to days

SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence in the Vatican City State

The results of this seroprevalence analysis showed a positivity rate among individuals assisted by the internal healthcare system of the Vatican City State lower than that found in other studies on similar samples. This may be due to the small sample size and to the low number of COVID-19 cases tracked in the Vatican City State thanks to the control and prevention measures taken by the Directorate of Health and Hygiene.

Homeless Shelter Characteristics and Prevalence of SARS-CoV-2

In this article, the authors have compared the characteristics of five different homeless shelters in Rhode Island, USA, and evaluated the prevalence of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection among their residents (n=299) using RT-PCR nasopharyngeal swabbing. The overall prevalence across all shelters was 11.7%; however, a large difference was found between shelters, as 3/5 had no cases while two had 21.6% and 35.3% of positive cases, respectively.
