Can Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) Alleviate COVID-19 Pain? A Case Study.

Among the symptoms of COVID-19 fever, general malaise, pain and aches, myalgia, fatigue, and headache can affect the quality of life of patients, even after the end of the acute phase of the infection and can be long lasting. The current treatment of these symptoms, also because COVID-19 patients have been asked not to use non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), in particular ibuprofen are often unsatisfactory. Among the above mentioned symptoms malaise and fatigue seem the most difficult to treat.

The voice of authority vis-à-vis the Covid-19 pandemic

Although it has not been spared criticism, the World Health Organization (WHO) represents an authoritative voice when it comes to managing health issues, especially those concerning the recent epidemiological emergency. Since the outbreak of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, there has also been an infodemic, an overabundance of information, which makes it difficult to separate the ‘wheat from the chaff’, true from fake news. This paper focuses on carrying out a semio-linguistic analysis in an effort to explore the communicative traits of the communiqués issued by WHO.

Background: The Covid-19 pandemic's potential psychological impact has been widely discussed on the basis of expert opinion and previous experience with emergencies of this type. We conducted a survey of cancer patients to explore more objectively the outbreak's impact on their emotional well-being and quality of life.

Emergency situations have been associated with negative psychological adjustment outcomes in healthcare professionals, although studies on the impact of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic amongst Italian health workers are limited. The main aim of this study was to investigate the psychological adjustment of healthcare professionals during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, evaluating differences according to working or not with patients affected by COVID-19 and in areas with a more severe spread of this pandemic.

Parents and Children During the COVID-19 Lockdown: The Influence of Parenting Distress and Parenting Self-Efficacy on Children’s Emotional Well-Being

On March 10, 2020, Italy went into lockdown due to the Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic. The World Health Organization highlighted how the lockdown had negative consequences on psychological well-being, especially for children. The present study aimed to investigate parental correlates of children’s emotion regulation during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Introduzione
Durante la pandemia da COVID-19, si è assistito alla diffusione di informazioni scientifiche a volte contraddittorie o errate. A fronte di tali incertezze, esaminare le credenze epistemologiche individuali, ovvero il modo in cui si costruisce la propria conoscenza in merito all’attuale pandemia, in adulti di diverse età, può essere importante. Alcuni studi riportano che la cognizione epistemica, influenzata dall’educazione e dal contesto di vita, si modifica nel passaggio dall’adolescenza all’età adulta da una conoscenza unitaria ad una più complessa e plurale.

Forced Cohabitation during Coronavirus Lockdown in Italy: A Study on Coping, Stress and Emotions among Different Family Patterns

Background: At the beginning of 2020, a pandemic caused by a new strain of coronavirus occurred. On March 9th, the Italian population was forced to lockdown to prevent the spread of this new virus. This event forced families and cohabitants to spend their entire days and weeks in the same physical space, interacting with partners and children with a very different degree of intimacy than in the earlier situation.

"Waste not and stay at home" evidence of decreased food waste during the COVID-19 pandemic from the US and Italy.

The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly disrupted houshold food purchasing and preparation. A sample of 478 individuals from US and of 476 from Italy completed an online survey. Results evidenced greater reduction in food waste since the beginning of the pandemic in US than in Italian participants.
