Unraveling latent dimensions of the urban mosaic: A multi-criteria spatial approach to metropolitan transformations
We investigated local-scale urban profiles by analysing the spatial structure of 124 territorial indicators to identify possibly relevant dimensions influencing urban evolution and promoting socioeconomic transformation. To assess patterns and processes of urban expansion, Athens (Greece) was taken as a prototype of metropolitan systems with a diversified morphology and entropic functions.

Studying the heterogeneity of European higher education institutions
The heterogeneity of the Higher Education (HE) Institutions is one of the main critical issues in the assessment of their performance. This paper adopts a multi-level and multi-dimensional perspective, combining national (macro) and institution (micro) level data, and measuring both research and teaching activity, using performance indicators derived from the European Tertiary Education Register, CWTS Leiden Ranking, and PATSTAT patent database.
Brown Bear (Ursus arctos; Eurasia)
The brown bear and cave bear (Ursus spelaeus) diverged in Eurasia approximately 1.2-1.4 million years ago (Loreille et al. 2001) and brown bears subsequently inhabited most of the continent. Here we review how climatic fluctuations during and after the Pleistocene shaped the genetic relationships within Eurasian brown bears, especially focusing on the effects of the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM, 26-19,000 years ago), when most of northern Eurasia was covered with continental ice sheets (Saarma et al. 2007).
The Eurasian modern pollen database (EMPD), version 2
The Eurasian (née European) Modern Pollen Database (EMPD) was established in 2013 to provide a public database of high-quality modern pollen surface samples to help support studies of past climate, land cover, and land use using fossil pollen. The EMPD is part of, and complementary to, the European Pollen Database (EPD) which contains data on fossil pollen found in Late Quaternary sedimentary archives throughout the Eurasian region. The EPD is in turn part of the rapidly growing Neotoma database, which is now the primary home for global palaeoecological data.
Face masks. Technical, technological and functional characteristics and hygienic-sanitary aspects related to the use of filtering mask in the community
INTRODUCTION: The health emergency caused by the spread of SARS-COV-2 virus has required the adoption of passive measures against contagion, such as social distancing. The use of filtering masks, of the different types available on the market, such as surgical and facial filtering masks (FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3), is also recommended.
