The post-Jaramillo persistence of Sus strozzii (Suidae, Mammalia) in Europe. New evidence from the Vallparadís section (NE Iberian Peninsula) and other coeval sites

The Vallparadís composite section (VCS) includes the nearby paleontological sites of Cal Guardiola and Vallparadís Estació (Vallès-Penedès Basin, northeastern Iberian Peninsula). The section spans from before the Jaramillo subchron to the early Middle Pleistocene (ca. 1.2–0.6 Ma). In this study, we describe the suid record from VCS and we review those from several other European sites, in order to refine the taxonomic identity and chronostratigraphic range of Quaternary suids in Europe.

RES-T trajectories and an integrated SWOT-AHP analysis for biomethane. Policy implications to support a green revolution in European transport

Europe is attempting to accelerate the development of renewables and, within the 2030 climate and energy framework, is required to achieve a share of renewable energy of at least 32%. However, the current share of renewables in the European transport sector (RES-T) is not adequate for reaching the 2020 target. The present work presents the trajectories of each Member State (MS) in attempting to achieve this goal and compares each MS in terms of RES-T, expressed in both percentage and per capita terms. Average European performance is used as a reference value.

Oil distribution in outcropping carbonate-ramp reservoirs (Maiella Mountain, Central Italy). Three-dimensional models constrained by dense historical well data and laboratory measurements

Heavy oil and bitumens have been exploited in Italy during the past, in particular over the Maiella Mountain’s northwest flank (Central Italy), where relatively undeformed, hydrocarbon-bearing carbonate- ramp reservoirs of the Bolognano Formation crop out. These res- ervoirs represent the exhumed analog of a wider petroleum system that has been investigated also in the subsurface by exploration activities, both onshore and offshore (Central Adriatic).

Assessing knowledge, attitude, and practice of healthcare personnel regarding biomedical waste management: a systematic review of available tools

Biomedical waste (BMW) management is an important commitment of hospitals both in terms of the possible infectious risk and from the financial point of view. Monitoring the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of healthcare professionals on this topic represents a source of information on BMW management. The aim of this study is to perform a systematic review to identify the reliable and valid tools able to assess the KAP of professionals in healthcare centers to manage BMW.

Grain stockpiles and public debt in Italy: a case study for an original relationship in the heart of Europe (1963-2000)

This paper aims to examine in more detail a little-known aspect of grain stockpiles in the aftermath of the Second World War; the particular aspect of the financial intervention linked with the compulsory stockpiles in Italy in connection with the financing of public debt.

THE #METOO SOCIAL MEDIA EFFECT AND ITS POTENTIALS FOR SOCIAL CHANGE IN EUROPE

#MeToo has been an unprecedented historic moment not necessarily for its achievements, but for the debates that it has triggered. In order to move beyond debates and to contribute meaningfully to gender equity and to eliminate gender-based discriminations, the post-#MeToo era now needs to focus on the strengthening of weak and insufficient legislative frameworks against harassment at the workplace.
