Ripercorrere la storia delle mura cittadine di Orbetello attraverso il disegno e il rilievo consente di apprezzarne meglio la struttura, le dimensioni e la forma e di acquisire consapevolezza attraverso un'attenta analisi degli elementi di dettaglio e dei diversi materiali da cui sono costruite le mura cittadine. Porta anche ad un confronto diretto con il loro stato di conservazione al fine di pensare alla loro gestione e, soprattutto, alla loro valorizzazione.

La città contemporanea è il risultato di stratificazioni multiple naturali e antropiche che si sono succedute nel corso dei secoli; queste stratificazioni offrono l'opportunità di discutere il rapporto tra il paesaggio urbano e la sua rappresentazione. Lo studio si concentra sulla rappresentazione e narrazione dei suoi Lungoteveri che sono una parte emblematica del tessuto urbano di Roma, un elemento fluviale continuo e lineare che attraversa tutta la città.

The chapter illustrates ‘three moves’ implemented by the students of the Renato Capozzi and Federica Visconti’s Studios in order to take part in the ‘architectural game’. The ‘first move’ is characterised by a ‘sacrifice’: the students must deprive themselves of the total, and dangerous, freedom towards the theme of the year and constantly refer to an exemplary architecture, binding their compositional exercise in a close confrontation with their reference.

This article discusses the policy design of the Italian Third Sector reform, and aims at identifying the cultural patterns that shaped its contents. To this end, the implementing decrees of Law no. 106/2016, and especially the Third Sector Code, are taken into consideration. In the article, five issues are analyzed and critically assessed: the legal forms of Third Sector organizations; their social value; the criteria and rules defining the relationship with public institutions; Third Sector organizations representation and representativeness; and their constitutional status.

Le odierne società liberaldemocratiche hanno incontrato da diversi decenni in Occidente il fenomeno della presenza di diverse gruppi culturali, linguistici e religiose, fra loro spesso estranei. La riflessione teorico-politica attuale deve confrontarsi col multiculturalismo inteso come politica di riconoscimento delle differenze da parte delle istituzioni. La cittadinanza moderna, legata allo stato moderno culturalmente omogeneo, è entrata in declino.

I investigate the construction of the mathematical concept of quaternion from a methodological and heuristic viewpoint to examine what we can learn from it for the study of the advancement of mathematical knowledge. I will look, in particular, at the inferential microstructures that shape this construction, that is, the study of both the very first, ampliative inferential steps, and their tentative outcomes—i.e. small ‘structures’ such as provisional entities and relations.

I argue that the construction of representation theorems is a powerful tool for creating novel objects and theories in mathematics, as the construction of a new representation introduces new pieces of information in a very specific way that enables a solution for a problem and a proof of a new theorem. In more detail, I show how the work behind the proof of a representation theorem transforms a mathematical problem in a way that makes it tractable and introduces information into it that it did not contain at the beginning of the process.

Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) are sites identified as globally important for bird species conservation. Marine IBAs are one of the few comprehensive multi-species datasets available for the marine environment, and their use in conservation planning will likely increase as countries race to protect 10% of their territorial waters by 2020. We tested 15 planning scenarios for Australia's Exclusive Economic Zone to guide best practice on integrating marine IBAs into spatial conservation prioritization.

With much of Earth's surface already heavily impacted by humans, there is a need to understand where restoration is required to achieve global conservation goals. Here, we show that at least 1.9 million km 2 of land, spanning 190 (27%) terrestrial ecoregions and 114 countries, needs restoration to achieve the current 17% global protected area target (Aichi Target 11). Restoration targeted on lightly modified land could recover up to two-thirds of the shortfall, which would have an opportunity cost impact on agriculture of at least $205 million per annum (average of $159/km 2 ).

This article investigates the cultural mediatization of the relationship between gender and war by looking at the representation and agency of female presence in one of the most popular sagas in video games: Metal Gear Solid. We have specifically focused on the last chapter of the series, Metal Gear Solid V (MGS5) by putting under scrutiny the character of Quiet. The analysis draws upon the rich theoretical corpus of feminist film studies, with reference to two main concepts: the “visual pleasure” by Laura Mulvey and the “female voice” by Kaja Silverman.
