The Social Poetry Drawing of Lina Bo Bardi
Within the complex and articulated architectural heritage of the Modern Movement, we are still amazed by the architecture of Lina Bo Bardi. Alive and modern, they never seem to age. The present study allows to better understand this vitality through her drawing. Spaces, geometries, functions, paths, views, perceptions, sensations, are grafted into an ever-changing urban space. Lina’s architecture, at any scale, never seems to lose its freshness in a city in continuous
transformation. This study reads them not only in the formal aspect, but also as the result of very strong elaborations and cultural evolutions of the designer,
which concretize her “social poetics”. Her consistent personality is enriched with all the peculiar aspects of the Brazilian culture, an immense country characterized
by the fusion of Western, African, indigenous American culture. Lina takes hold of those cultural emotions that she was lucky enough to share with the Brazilian
avant-garde of the time, and makes them her own. Here she makes them reappear as if pulled out of a magician’s hat, through her exciting architecture.
