Interessi di ricerca

I started my academic career in organic synthesis and moved to Structural Biology in 2003, acquiring my PhD in 2006 in the Dep. of Biochemical Sciences. Since then I solved many protein structures using X-ray crystallography and have been mainly involved in the structure/function study of:

  • Human PLP dependent enzyme such as Serine hydroxymethyltransferase (SHMT), Dopa decarboxylase (DDC) and Alanine:glyoxylate amino trasferase (AGT) all involved in severe pathologies and/or cancer
  • Proteins from Pseudomonas aeruginosa involved in the regulation of biofilm formation or/and the denitrification pathway

As many others in the field I am now making the first steps in cryo-EM.
