RES - Riabilitazione Evidenze e Sviluppo

The Department of Human Neurosciences is official membership to the World Rehabilitation Alliance (WRA) of the World Health Organization. WRA is a WHO global network of stakeholders whose mission is to support the implementation of the Rehabilitation 2030 Initiative through advocacy activities. It focuses on promoting rehabilitation as an essential health service that is integral to Universal Health Coverage and to the realisation of Sustainable Development Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. The research group is primary involved in two workstream: primary care and research.

The research group is based on Neurorehabilitation Service of the Department of Human Neurosciences and provide rehabilitation for neurological health conditions in all age. Main activities are the following:

  • Validating specific outcome measures for functional recovery, quality of life, disability;
  • Conducting systematic reviews and relevant meta-analysis for determing quality of intervention and appropriateness of the care;
  • Investigating efficacy of specific neurorehabilitation intervention for neurological conditions;
  • Measuring efficacy of wheelchair and assistive technologies intervention in both adult and developmental age;
  • Exploring new technologies for health and disability;
  • Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology service for refugees and asylum seekers;
  • Strategies to improve Community-Based Inclusive Development (formerly know as Community-Based Rehabilitation);
  • Education activities for student and allied healthcare professionals;
  • Supervision and collaboration for project involving low- and middle-income countries;
