A random positioning machine, or RPM, rotates biological samples along two independent axes to change their orientation in space in complex ways and so eliminate the effect of gravity. The RPM is a more sophisticated development of the single-axis clinostat. RPMs usually consist of two independently rotating frames.
The JEOL JNM-ECZ 600R spectrometer is equipped with a 14.09 Tesla magnet, corresponding to the resonance frequency of 1H of 600 MHz. For the specific needs of the metabolomic analysis, a 30-position autosampler which can be cooled down to -20°C and a cryoprobe was included in the supply contract.
The system is a liquid ultra-chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS / MS). Chromatography is equipped with a high-pressure binary pumping module and double-needle autosampler. The spectrometer is a triple quadrupole (QQQ) tandem mass analyzer with an ESI ion source.

The equipment is characterized by a Cell Imaging tool combined with a Multi-Mode Reader and an incubator-like system for real-time live cell and longer-term kinetic studies. The instrument should work by multiple advanced combined technologies, including fluorescence and high contrast brightfield imaging, monochromator-based ultraviolet and visible (UV-VIS) absorbance, high performance filter-based fluorescence and luminescence.
