CoViD-19 and psychiatry: can mental illness justify further exceptions to the obligation to stay at home?

To face the CoViD-19 pandemic, the italian government has approved regulations which state, with no exceptions, that it is considered offence for people tested positive to the virus to leave their house, whereas other people are allowed to leave their house for proven needs such as work, health or emergencies.

Prismatic to asbestiform offretite from Northern Italy. Occurrence, morphology and crystal-chemistry of a new potentially hazardous zeolite

A multi-methodological approach, based upon field investigation, morphological characterization, chemical analysis and structure refinement was applied to different samples of fibrous offretite, a new potentially hazardous zeolite recently discovered in northern Italy. Their morphology ranges from stocky-prismatic to asbestiform. All the investigated fibers may be considered as "inhalable", and they are well within the range of the "more carcinogenic fibers" regarding diameter.

From high volume to “zero” proctology. Italian experience in the COVID era

Purpose: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic hit Italy early and strongly, challenging the whole health care system. Proctological patients and surgeons are experiencing a previously unseen change in care with unknown repercussion. Here we discuss the proctological experience of 4 Italian hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Following remote brainstorming, the authors summarised their experience in managing proctological patients during the COVID-19 pandemics and put forward some practical observations to further investigate.

Condizioni linguistiche di sviluppo economico: esperienze e prospettive per l'insegnamento della lingua giapponese

This paper aims at introducing standard practices and new strategies of the Japanese language education between Italy and Japan, in a globalized contest of different kind of migrations, against the background of the new possibilities opened by the EU-Japan's Economic Partnership Agreement (2019), and the new immigration policies launched by Japan (2019-2020). A room of one's own: Moments of mutual disengagement between doctor and patient in the oncology visit

This paper examines a previously neglected phenomenon in doctor-patient interaction studies, i.e. the achievement of mutual disengagement—a specific state of coordination, in which participants suspend reciprocal gaze and turn into separate axes of involvement. In the specialized setting of the oncology visit, which we consider in this study, mutual disengagement is linked to important tasks that the oncologist has to carry out, notably the scrutiny of the histological exam during the diagnostic assessment phase.

Presenting treatment options in breast cancer consultations: Advice and consent in Italian medical care

Variety, complexity and uncertainty in the therapy outcomes of cancer illness make the treatment recommendation (TR) in oncology a “monumentally difficult task”. Previous studies have distinguished unilateral and bilateral formats of treatment recommendations, accordingly to whether, or to what extent, the patient's perspective is included in the consideration of therapeutic options. Others have also shown how the oncologists' presentation of therapeutic options varied accordingly to the severity of the diagnosis and the availability of alternatives.

Gender issues in the Italian political domain. Are woman / man ministers evaluated as different in terms of effectiveness of their behavior?

Although women have a growing representation in the Italian political sphere they are still often faced with sexism, borne out of feminine stereotypes, that is naturally not shared by their men col- leagues in office. We investigated these stereotypes in the context of recent research on stereotypes to- ward women leaders.

A good scare is worth more than good advice: Educational regulations in Italy and Turkey after CoVid-19.

Interrupting educational services due to the CoVid-19 outbreak can have serious and long-term consequences. This paper addresses the comparisons of the Educational Regulations in Italy and Turkey after CoVid-19 on inservice teacher training. The purpose of this cross-cultural research is to examine the content and the quality of training that is provided to Turkish and Italian teachers in service. In this study, the document scanning method was used. In-service teacher training activities within the two education structures had been investigated through document scanning.

Measuring Bullying and Victimization Among Immigrant and Native Primary School Students: Evidence From Italy

Italy is a particularly interesting context in which to study the phenomenon of bullying given the steadily increasing number of immigrant students attending Italian primary schools. We examined the psychometric properties of a short self-report measure of bullying and victimization across groups of students with various migration backgrounds. We then estimated, by latent mean comparisons, the rates of prevalence of bullying and victimization among different generations of immigrants and native students.
