CafFEAST Roma parla le lingue orientali
This project targets Rome's multiethnic community, particularly Municipality I, focusing on young migrants and expats from Africa and Asia who remain partially integrated despite being key actors in territorial growth and renewal. CafFEAST aims to accelerate integration by breaking down language barriers through the establishment of the first linguistic-literary café entirely dedicated to Asian and African languages, cultures, and traditions. Organized by the ISO Department alongside "Scomodo" and MaTeMù associations, the initiative features bi-weekly discussion tables from Campo de' fiori to Esquilino where participants can converse in Oriental languages (Chinese, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Indian languages) accompanied by themed aperitifs featuring Asian and African cuisine. Sessions include cultural presentations covering history, literature, cinema, music, and gastronomy, with Sapienza faculty, doctoral students, and young researchers serving as volunteer facilitators. The project also organizes quarterly cultural events at the Oriental Studies Library's Korean Hall, with activities monitored through questionnaires to measure impact.
